I know we're already midway through January, but I wanted to do a recap of 2017 since it was our first official year as a family of 3! We got a ton of first-hand experience traveling with a baby on some pretty incredible adventures...
We kicked things off by celebrating the New Year at an Airbnb in Sonoma with some of our closest friends. It was low-key and cozy, which was perfect because with a 3 month old baby I was still firmly in zombie mode. Later in January it was off to Aspen for our first official family ski trip. We took turns skiing and looking after Charley, so everyone got a chance to get out on the slopes!
In February we got Charley's passport just in the nick of time for his first international trip to Whistler, British Columbia.
After all this cold it was time for some Vitamin D. We headed South to Palm Beach where we met up with my Dad. Charley was thrilled to be with his grandpa and they had a blast swimming in the pool.
In March, we enjoyed road trips to Lake Tahoe and Napa before gearing up for our BIG Southern California road trip to Santa Barbara (with stops in Carmel, Paso Robles and Ojai for good measure!). Living in California makes road trips so easy; we spend our fair share of time in the car and I loved our infant car seat! (We have since upgraded to this one since Charley is so much bigger now...)
We started Summer off right in Hawaii before flying to New York to spend time with friends in Southampton (read about my partnership with Ralph Lauren and favorite spots in Southampton here!).
We visited Puerto Rico to see my family before stopping in Saratoga Springs for the summer horse races, which included a stay at the quaint Brentwood Hotel. After a quick overnight in Shelter Island (where we were married 4 years ago!) it was back to San Francisco to prep for our European adventure in early September!
We flew direct from San Francisco to Paris (this stroller was a godsend), Our reward for surviving a 10 hour flight with a nearly one year old was a week of tasty food and drink! From Paris, we headed to Spain for my best friend's wedding in Marbella. Charley turned the big numero 1 on the Spanish coast with chocolate cake and balloons to celebrate! We drove from Malaga to Madrid stopping in Sevilla along the way before heading home to California.
In October, the North Bay fires spurred an unexpected trip to Southern California where we stayed with friends in Los Angeles.
For Thanksgiving, we made our way to Mexico spending time relaxing in Los Cabos, then off to Charlotte for Christmas with family. Phew! It's been an amazing year and we've so enjoyed the opportunity to travel and show Charley more of the world. Looking forward to many more amazing adventures in 2018! xx
